Management Backgrounders

Laurence S. Liebson, President and CEO, has consistently orchestrated the creation and introduction of new products, markets, solutions and businesses that grew rapidly and established leadership positions in their markets (e-Business, semiconductor, electronics, software, telecommunications, automotive, aerospace, printing and publishing).  Prior to founding i-Netix, Mr. Liebson led a management buyout of Harris Corporation’s Electronic Design Automation Division (a Division of a Fortune 500 Company renamed Xynetix Design Systems and currently a division of Synopsis).  He served as their CEO for four years and Chairman for six years until their acquisition.  Previously, he founded two high-tech companies (Xylogics, Inc. and Xyvision, Inc.) that grew rapidly and were NASDAQ-listed.  Mr. Liebson also has prior work experience at the NASA Electronic Research Center and Bell Laboratories.  He holds an MS from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was an M.I.T. Sloan Fellow, has done graduate work at Harvard University in the Division of Engineering and Applied Physics, and has a BS in engineering with an emphasis on computer science.  He serves and has served on more than a dozen private and public company Board of Directors.  Mr. Liebson enjoys skiing the back bowls of Vail and windsurfing in Aruba.

James A. Bittker, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, has extensive entrepreneurial experience and a demonstrated ability to conceive, launch and support Internet-based products and services.  Before co-founding i-Netix, Mr. Bittker led the marketing and sales efforts for the Corporate University Xchange, a leading provider of corporate learning intelligence, research, industry analysis and consulting within the enterprise-learning marketplace.  Corporate University Xchange was acquired by iUniverse, where he had served as the company's first marketing, sales and business development executive.  iUniverse is now the largest independent publisher in the U.S., publishing more than 5,000 new titles per year.  Prior to his work at iUniverse, Mr. Bittker co-founded PubWeb, an information service company that facilitated commerce and distribution of copyrighted documents for the global publishing and printing market.  Before that he worked as an editor at McGraw-Hill Publishing Company, where economics Nobel-prize winning author Paul Samuelson was among his authors.  He has a Masters Degree in History from SUNY at Albany and coursework towards a doctorate at Cornell University.  Mr. Bittker bats right and throws right.

Michael Giarratano, Vice President, Finance and CFO is a financial professional with extensive experience working with high technology companies.  His range of financial and administrative responsibilities have included SEC reporting, treasury management, international consolidations, M&A due diligence, information systems, human resources, corporate tax, facility management, and all facets of accounting.  Recently he was the CFO at Transfusion Technologies Corporation, a medical technology company.  Previously, he was Vice President Finance, CFO and Treasurer at publicly held, Candela Corporation, a medical laser manufacturer.  Prior to this he held financial management positions at Lotus Development Corporation, Massachusetts Computer Corporation, Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) and KPMG Main Hurdman (now KPMG Peat Marwick).  In public accounting, Mr. Giarratano’s client focus was on early stage and emerging technology companies.  He holds a BS in Accounting from Providence College.  Mr. Giarratano is a member of the Financial Executives International, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.  Mr. Giarratano is a licensed private pilot and jock of all sports.

Robert L. Bushkoff, Vice President, is a highly experienced system architect, technologist and entrepreneur.  He has been the principle system architect of leading edge products that have resulted in excess of $500 million in revenues. His has expertise in automated electronic publishing for multi-form distribution -- web, print, database and extensive knowledge of  Internet and media technologies for imaging, presentation, audio, video, and music. Mr. Bushkoff is a cofounder of Nutmeadow Technologies and two NASDAQ-listed high-tech companies (Xylogics, Inc. and Xyvision, Inc.).  Mr. Bushkoff received his BSEE degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.   When Mr. Bushkoff is not exploring new technologies he enjoys jam sessions playing lead guitar and kayaking.

Dr. Robert McNamara, Vice President, has over 25 years of experience in the Internet, networking, telecommunications, wireless communications and fiber optics markets.  For the past five years he has been a consultant in the telecommunications industry.  As a consultant he has provided management and technical consulting services to a select number of clients in specific markets, including the following: telecommunications, fiber optic, Wireless Communications Systems, Video-on-Demand (VOD) systems, Color FAX software, Internet video delivery systems, an e-commerce Internet and video application systems, and business modeling of major telecommunication networking properties.  Previously, Dr. McNamara was a co-founder of NASDAQ-listed First Pacific Networks, Inc.   There, he was chiefly responsible for development of their product family.  Prior to this, Dr. McNamara held key technical and technical management positions at Sytek, one of the first Local Area Network companies; GTE Service Corporation, where he was responsible for helping GTE enter the cellular market.  He was also a Member of the Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Telephone Laboratories, where he helped develop innovative fiber optic local loop delivery systems.  Dr. McNamara holds more than 20 patents and received his BS, MS and Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the California Institute of Technology.  Dr. McNamera holds a black belt in Taekwondo.

Dr. Robert Strong, Vice President, is a highly experienced software development executive.  His experience includes a wide range of software products, projects and technologies, including leading-edge development in web technologies, content management, relational databases, distributed object-oriented databases, telecommunications and the computer manufacturing industry.  He specializes in software Research and Development and Information Technology, and the connection of these functions to their customers through the marketing process.  Dr. Strong has held senior executive positions in public and private companies.  Most recently Global Median, Inc., where he serves as CTO, Eprise Corporation where he was Vice President of Product Development, Xyvision where he was Vice President of Research and Development, and HyperDesk Corporation where he was Vice President of Development and a member of The Office of the President.  Dr. Strong received his BSEE from Villanova University and SM and Ph.D. degrees in Communications from the Electrical Engineering Department at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Dr. Ted Tabloski, Vice President, has over 25 years of experience in the computer and communications industry as a technologist and manager of many innovative computer, communication and information systems.  He founded and managed the engineering team at Ucentric Systems where the team's home networking platform was recognized as the technology leader for delivering value-added voice, video and information services to every screen and speaker in residences.  He also founded Continuum Software (renamed TopicalNet), winning a major NIST ATP contract and financing for component-based software.  Previously, he managed all software development at Thinking Machines, a $100M high performance computing systems company (fellow alumni include Danny Hillis and Richard Feynman).  There he built and led the development team, widely recognized as being among the most productive and creative in the industry, which introduced parallel and cluster computing to mainstream markets.  At Bell Laboratories, he pioneered the development of many important communication and UNIX-related products, including the first fault-tolerant UNIX operating system.  Dr. Tabloski was a founder of the first UNIX standards group, /USR/GROUP, and a director of the UNIX Expo.  He received a BSEE from the University of Massachusetts and a MS and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.  For all his accomplishments, he has yet to master the game of golf.

Lawrence Beaupre Vice President, has 30 years of experience in operations, manufacturing and customer support services where he has consistently lead the creation of high performing operating teams and organizational processes that deliver high-quality products, services and predictable levels of performance.  Mr. Beaupre has been a member of the founding team at several successful startups including Xyvision, Roll Systems and QuadTech, where he has held Vice President of Manufacturing, Vice President of Operations, and COO positions in these ventures.   Previously he held management positions with Texas Instruments, was the Vice President of Manufacturing at Data Terminal Systems, and served as the Senior Group Manufacturing Manager at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC).  At DEC he had worldwide responsibility for disk and tape storage systems and six manufacturing plants located around the world, which collectively accounted for 25% of DEC’s revenues.  Mr. Beaupre holds a BA and MA from the University of Massachusetts.  He is a licensed pilot.

Deborah Barlow, e-Marketing Consultant, specializes in developing and implementing innovative e-marketing campaigns for clients who want to maximize the branding and promotional potential of the Web. She has provided expertise in this new area of marketing to organizations in management consulting, biotechnology, e-learning, CRM, human resources and the non-profit sector. Previously Ms. Barlow has held senior sales and marketing positions including vice president of sales and marketing at Cayman Systems, vice president of corporate communications at Xyvision and director of marketing at Graphic Communications (Lotus/IBM). Her marketing communications programs have won a number of awards including a highly respected Clio and several Bell Ringer awards from the New England Public Relations Association. Judy Cox Graphic and Website Design Consultant, has over twenty years experience as a marketing communications professional in the high tech industry.  During this time she designed and wrote marketing brochures, produced and maintained corporate websites, and created a series of interactive sales presentations.  She started her own interactive media business in 1999, www.inzones.com.  Since that time Ms. Cox has created more than 50 websites for start-ups, consulting companies and small and midsize businesses.  Prior to that she managed the graphic design and marketing communications department at Xyvision.  If she is not creating an award winning design, she is probably cruising the Caribbean with her husband on their trimaran.
